YOUTH
INITIATIVE PROJECT NO 3.1/2000/R6/13
SUPPORTED BY THE HELLENIC GENERAL SECRETARIAT FOR YOUTH & THE E.U. PROGRAM
"YOUTH"
The project is the creation of
a comic website and cd-rom, which will contain comic stories written by
the members of Hienet & the E.V.S. Volunteers.
It will be distributed in the institute’s area (Piraeus) and to our
partner organizations all over Europe.
This includes the following activities:
Collection of information for the comic
stories
Writing tales with comic characters about
educational, cultural, social, economic, New Technologies, youth, health
and European, concerning subjects.
Set-up and Layout of the website and cd-rom.
Publishing in the Internet and the cd-rom.
Distribution.
The aims are:
To give ideas about other cultures (especially
through the volunteers).
To inform about social problems like drugs,
Aids, pollution, and to open discussions about those subjects.
To entertain the readers.
To give the institute’s youngsters a
possibility to express themselves.
To present Hienet’s activities and events.
Project description:
Our youngsters decided that a project like this would be prototype and it
will surely enrich Hienet youngsters’ interests.
We create a Collection of Comic Stories (tales with comic characters)
about educational, cultural, social, economic, New Technologies, youth,
health and European, concerning subjects.
It is necessary for the creation of the website and
a CD-ROM to do the following:
- First to form the group of participants.
- To discuss about the context.
- To give to the youngsters the responsibility
for the different parts.
- To help them to collect information and to
prepare the stories… etc.
The Youngsters are
completely involved during all the steps.
All the activities are done by our youngsters & the E.V.S. Volunteers
(collection of information, writing of the stories, set up of the ’pages’’,distribution)
With this project we want:
- To give educative information about all the
subjects to the young people while we entertain them.
- To give our youngsters a chance to express
themselves.
- To give to the young people information about
daily subjects.
- Moreover we plan to write about social
problems like drugs or Aids and we hope to open discussions about these
subjects.
- Also this website and cd-rom will present
HIENET’s projects and activities.
- Very important for us is the participation of
youngsters with special needs.
- All together we expect to enrich our
neighborhood by creating this small but open-minded website.
- Most of the stories will be about subjects
relevant for young people in Greece & all European countries.
- We plan to continue this project, if it is
successful (to enrich the website with more stories and make a cd-rom).
- Moreover we are going to present the comic
stories on a Web Page in the Internet.
The Timetable:
- May 2001:Welcome of the EVS Volunteers &
creation of the Working teams.
(Reporters, Comic Graphics, Story Creation, Photography, Internet,
Culture, Art etc) Set up the Software in the Computers.
- June 2001:HIENET’S working teams on the
creation process. Creation of the comic story about Dangerous at Home
(Electricity, Fire) and about Sports (Fair Play, Fitness, Co-operation).
- July 2001:Set up the created material for use
in the web site and the CD-ROM.
- August 2001:Creation of the comic story about
Animals (Take care, Needs etc) and Pollution-Environment (Industries,
tree planting).
- September 2001:Set up the created material for
use in the web site and the CD-ROM.
- October 2001:Creation of the comic story about
Earthquake (Dangerous, Protection) and about Music (The power of music,
Kinds etc).
- November 2001:Set up the created material for
use in the web site and the CD-ROM.
- December 2001:Creation of the comic story
about Human Behavior (Lie, Steal, Make fun of others etc) and about
Health (Visit often the doctor, etc).
- January 2002:Set up the created material for
use in the web site and the CD-ROM.
- February 2002:Creation of the comic story
about Racism, Drugs and Aids.
- March 2002:Set up the created material for use
in the web site and the CD-ROM.
- April 2002:Creation of the CD-ROM.
We put all the information
in the CD-ROMS and send them to Greek and other European Organizations.
The context and the motivation
Our youngsters decided, that a project like this would be prototype and it
will surely enrich Hienet youngsters’ interests.
We use Computer and Internet programs.
These are the favorite activities of all “HIENET’S” Youngsters.
We create a Collection of Comic Stories (tales with comic characters)
about educational, cultural, social, economic, New Technologies, youth,
health and European, concerning subjects.
The preparation
To prepare the creation of the website we first formed the group of
participants, discuss about the context, and gave them the responsibility
for the different parts. Then they start to collect information, design
the comics…. etc.
The involvement of the participants
As our youngsters & the E.V.S. Volunteers do all the activities, they are
completely involved during all the steps. (Collection of information,
interviews, writing of the stories, set up of the ‘’pages’’,
distribution…)
The objectives
With this project we want, first of all, to give educative information
about all the subjects to the young people while we entertain them.
Moreover we plan to write about social problems like drugs or Aids and we
hope to open discussions about these subjects.
Very important for us is the participation of youngsters with special
needs.
Also this website will give our youngsters a chance to express themselves.
Finally we would also like to present HIENET’s projects and activities.
All together we expect to enrich our neighborhood by creating this small
but open-minded website.

All the Youngsters who have access to our website and cd-rom.
People with special needs.
All our partner organizations in Greece & abroad.
The impact at local level
All the youngsters who have contact with our institute take part in the
creation process.
All the readers are informed about subjects that concern each of their
ages.
The European dimension
Most of the stories are about subjects relevant for young people in all
European countries.
The follow-up and evaluation
We plan to enrich our website with other comic stories. To continue this
project, by keeping the web site updated and live for many years.
We will create more CD-ROMS in the future. |
